Drone regulations in Czech Republic

Maximum flight altitude: In the Czech Republic, drones can climb up to a height of 100 meters.

Maximum horizontal distance and FPV: Drone flights are to be carried out in sight.

Compulsory insurance: An aviation liability insurance is not stipulated to my knowledge, but is strongly recommended.

Maximum take-off weight (MTOW): The weight limit for multicopters is 20 kg. If necessary, there is a further restriction for private pilots.

Distance to airports: You have to keep a distance of 10 kilometers with your drone to airports.

Flight bans: In cities, you can not fly in general. Also, the overflights of roads are not permitted in principle. Flight prohibition zones can be checked through MAIA. A map with No Fly Zones is also available online.

Flight approval: At our Czech neighbors, flights are permitted for private purposes without permission.

Time of operations: I recommend using drones only in daylight in the Czech Republic.

Regulations for commercial pilots: Commercial pilots must apply for a permit for the operation of the aircraft, a permit to carry out work by drones and, if necessary, a license to operate the aircraft for their requirements. The total costs of the approval are around 960€. The Office for Civil Aviation is the competent office. According to the experience of Czech pilots, the entire process takes about three months.

Ascent permits from Germany may be accepted, but special conditions can be granted. Drones in cities are prohibited.

Good to know: Ignoring the Czech regulations can be punished with a fine of up to 185,000€.
